"Mary Smith, daughter of Jorgen and Mette Marie Johannesen(Villadsen) Smith was born 22 October 1827 in Fountain Green, Utah.
"She grew to womanhood but not much seems to be known of her life except she was a fine wife and mother. She died on Christmas day leaving 5 boys and 1 daughter all small children. What a shock to a father and family looking forward to Christmas Day as all children do. She must of looked forward to this Christmas too, as all mothers do. Her youngest was about on and a half years old. Her oldest, a girl abut 12 with five brothers, of course Ida May learned to help her father care for the house and family after her mother's death, 25 Dec 1899.
"Mary had married Andrew and they made their home in Payson, Utah. He was born in what is thought Buffalo, New York(he was actually born in Council Bluffs, Pottawattamie, Iowa, United States), 18 Feb 1847. His father was John Henry Box, born Greiz , Germany. His wife Cahterine(records indicate that her name was Elizabeth Haynes), died along the plains and was buried there near there near Council Bluffs, they think. Ox team became very frightened and plunged forward, throwing her out of the wagon and ran over her. This was a deep tragedy for a husband to have to come to Utah without her.
"Later Andrew's father married Elizabeth Diam and both are buried in Payson, Utah. It then list their children(of John Henry and Elizabeth Haynes Box"
